Rebecca Hogue is Demystifying Instructional Design by Creating Engaging Online Learning Experiences

I (Rebecca J. Hogue) have a professional background in instructional design and software quality assurance. I hold a Master of Arts Degree in Distributed Learning (Distance Education), and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science. My passion is for creating innovative education solutions. I teach (online) instructional design at the University of Massachusetts-Boston.

I host a podcast called Demystifying Instructional Design where I interview instructional designers about what they do. 

I’m Co-Founder of Virtually Connecting – a grassroots movement to help make academic conferences more accessible through informal online conversations.

In my first career, I worked for Nortel Networks for 7-years in a variety of roles including: quality assurance, team lead, technology trial manager, and product manager (technical marketing). After Nortel, I transitioned my career to Instructional Design and Technical Writing.

In 2008 and 2009, my husband and I spent 16-months riding recumbent bikes across Canada and travelling around the world without airplanes (we crossed the oceans on container ships). Our latest adventures involve discovering the natural beauty of our new home town – Bridgewater Nova Scotia – and helping to build Atlantic Canada’s first cohousing community – Treehouse Village Ecohousing.
